The Project "LOIC-La Route de la Cox" in french, meaning the Bug's Road, is the story of a old globetrotter Volkswagen Beetle. Loïc, young man handicaped, is collecting those car toys with passion since he was a child. Friends decide to offer him their own car, a real one and th so called Bug, and help his dream to become true. Alim, Colette, Runa, Yves and the Bug are living in Bangladesh. The purpose is then to bring the car back to France by the road, doing a cross of Eurasia for handicap.
The "engine" of the project has several items interdependent and oiled, helping the Bug to be a means of knowledge and diffusion for:
- knowing Loïc's desease, Williams and Beuren's syndroma, and associations of parents of this sickness (Williams France and Autour des Williams)
- meeting along the road local associations of handicaped people and sharing our experiences about the management of them (how they are incorporated and what's their status in the society)
- feeding the knowledge of those "Williams" to music of every part of the world, by collecting instruments in the different countries (with videotapes of traditional concerts)
- sensitizing people of the "Maison d'Eole" (the place where Loïc is living, in Versailles) with computers and Internet by a chat workshop, once a week.
Loïc is of course the key-point of that project, but he cannot be part of it all the way long (because of his desease and also because he cannot leave the Maison d'Eole so often). So, I decided to go alone, just in theory, because I'm sure that in real a lot of people like you will join me for few kilometers. My adress book is not empty neither, then I will stop to see some friends on my way (also if you have any, it will be a pleasure!). Loïc will come at the beginning of the road, in march and in Bangladesh, and he'll stay for two weeks with me. Here we are now...
